Island Montessori Academy's Board Members

 

President
Jason Bailey has been a resident of the Naples/Marco Island area since 1996. He has a strong background in business start-ups, fiscal and operations management. Being the owner and operator of successful, local businesses including computer networking, landscape construction and irrigation, and interlocking paver contracting, he has experience with and understanding of small business aspects, as well as the city and county requirements necessary for our everyday facility operations. He served on the St. Mark's Vestry and volunteered as a tutor for their "Stars on the Water" afterschool academic support program for Tommie Barfield Elementary School 2nd graders. Last year he led the IMA Expansion subcommittee in research and planning for the Toddler Building Project. As a student of a model high school in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, he received an education based on pedagogy much like Maria Montessori's and fully supports IMA's philosophy and teaching methods.

Vice President and Treasurer
Peter Nguyen is a Vietnam refugee and true entrepreneur. In the last thirty years, he has held a wide variety of different employment positions. He is currently a real estate developer and property manager. His personality exudes friendliness, understanding, and intelligence. Although there are language barriers with many of his tenants, Peter continues to do business and communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds. He has taken Spanish classes, and spent time in Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries to better understand his tenants on a cultural level. He has experience with engineers, scientists, town planners, and various boards for approval of project development and property management. He is the president and founder of Venture Realty Trust, and president of LTP Realty, Inc., both of which do business in Massachusetts, as well as Florida.

Assistant Vice President of Operations
Greg Pascale is an owner of the family-run businesses, Marco Island Floor Covering, Naples Bay Floor Covering, and Bonita Springs Floor Covering, as well as Distinctive Construction. Mr. Pascale has created an extended network of family, friends and loyal customers over the fifteen years he has been in our community. His life goal is to live a life he loves that is full of inspiration and creation. He has the ability to rally and motivate volunteers and people to get a job done. He is a graduate of culinary school and Landmark Education and his other involvements include Naples M.S walk, Chamber of Commerce, Marco Island Business Networking Group, and is a member of C.B.I.A and M.I.A. He is a dedicated businessman and husband, and father of an IMA Toddler.

Board Representative, Parent Association Co-Chair
Chel Micheline graduated from Emory University with a Bachelor's Degree in Art History and a Master's Degree in Film History/Theory. Before moving to Marco Island in 1999 and becoming a full-time artist, she specialized in Museum Education and helped develop academic programs for various historical and cultural institutions. When Chel's not working in her art studio, she's spending time with her family (including husband Tom and daughter Grace, who is a student in IMA's primary program ), and volunteering for animal rescue organizations.

Board Representative, Parent Association Co-Chair
Janice Barrett-Cox graduated from East Carolina University with a B.S. in Interior Design and a minor in Business. Janice started in residential/commercial lighting before working for a Steelcase furniture dealership. While at the dealership, she was given the opportunity to work with an advertising agency to create a state of the art environment incorporating the newest products for Steelcase which were used in their national advertising campaigns. She then went on to work for her clients at First Union National Bank as a project manager for Corporate Real Estate. There she supported 1500+ people in various business units to create long-term space strategies to accommodate business growth. In doing this, she directed architects, construction managers and vendors in tactical planning and build outs. Janice then briefly worked at a Herman Miller Healthcare dealership as senior designer, Government account, which included Walter Reed, National Navy Medical Center, Bethesda and National Institute of Health. Janice then returned to her native North Carolina to become an integral part of her husband’s national general contracting business as well as incorporating her own design business, Elements of Interiors, Inc. Since becoming a mother, Janice is now a dedicated stay-at-home mother to Jesse, an IMA toddler. Janice enjoys crafting and supporting local charities that give back to the community.
